Kakey Brewing Company is opening a new restaurant in Portland, Oregon, as it expands its production in the region.
The brewery, which will be known as Kakeyah Mountain Restaurant, will serve as the gateway to a growing Oregon beer landscape, said CEO, Jake Hensley.
It will also offer customers a place to enjoy the KakeYas beers, and also a place for them to try the beer from other local breweries.
Kakeya has also announced a new partnership with Portland’s Red Lion Brewing Company to bring the brewery’s beers to Oregon in 2018.
The new restaurant will be in the former Red Lion restaurant space on Northeast 10th Avenue and NE 11th Avenue.
It is slated to open in early 2019.
Kakeys main production facility, at 690 North 15th Avenue, will be demolished and the restaurant will reopen as a restaurant.
The restaurant is scheduled to be open to the public in early 2018.
The brewery is expanding its brewing capacity, but it plans to remain in the Portland area for the foreseeable future, Hensly said.
In addition to its new brewery, Kakeye also is building a new tasting room at the former Blue Mountain Brewery in Portland’s Southwest neighborhood.
The restaurant will also have a beer garden and seating area, according to a press release.
Kakes new location comes as Kakes beers grow in popularity in Oregon.
Last year, it became the first brewery to release its first ever brew, an imperial stout, at a new location in downtown Portland.
The beer sold out within days, and it was also named a Best New Brewery in Oregon in 2016.
The expansion into Portland will allow Kakeydoms taproom to be expanded to serve up additional beers, Hesley said.
The company is also expanding its production capacity to include some of the state’s best local brewers.
“This is a great opportunity for Kakeymans fans to experience the beer we are most proud of,” Hens, who has been with the brewery since 2014, said in a press conference.
“We have a wonderful beer lineup with beers from Oregon’s most famous breweries, and the new KakeYA will allow us to expand this and grow it even more.”
