Mad River Mountain is up to its knees in helmets.
The mountain bike ride in the park is expected to get underway at 5:00 p.m.
It’s a popular day-hike in the area and visitors have come from far and wide to join in the fun.
Ride director Jason Deitch says he’s hoping to get more riders out today than on Saturday because the park has more mountain bike trails than usual this year.
Deitch said he hopes people will start coming out to see what all the fuss is about.
“We are still a little bit of a wild west here,” he said.
“People have no idea what’s going on, but they have a really great time.”
The mountain bike trail runs from the parking lot to the north of the park.
Deitched said the riders were encouraged to ride with helmets.
“If they are not wearing helmets, we ask that you keep them on for the duration of the ride,” he told CBC News.
The riders are required to wear their helmets during the ride.
Deitch said they’re hoping the new mountain bike regulations are effective this year, because it will take a little longer for people to get used to riding on the mountain bike.
“I think we’ll see that we’ll have more riders coming out today,” he added.
